Caridon Foundation joins Faith in Action Merton to prepare and serve food

On Friday 7th October, volunteers from Caridon Foundation, part of Caridon Group, joined Faith in Action Merton to help prepare and serve meals to the homeless.

Faith in Action helps local people by running a Drop-in which welcomes and supports homeless and vulnerably-housed people in and around the London Borough of Merton.

They are open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.00am to 2.30pm. A 2-course hot lunch is available, as well as laundry, showers, access to the internet, breakfast and hot drinks all day. Rough sleepers can also receive food parcels, sleeping bags, underwear and donated clean clothes.

Sherrelle Collman, Managing Director of Caridon Foundation said: “The cost of living crisis is affecting people across the country, and causing high levels of anxiety for those trying to keep aroof over their head. There is a danger of people finding themselves in situations they never thought possible, where their bills are such that their homes are at risk. This is also having a devastating impact on those who are already vulnerable or homeless, as many rely on donationsand we have seen a significant reduction in these over the last few months as budgets are stretched. Homeless people rely heavily on the support of services like Faith in Action, and we want to do all we can to ensure they are able to keep running.

As an organisation, we are also reaching out to as many third party organisations as possible to look at how we can all work together to provide for those most in need within our community.”
